CBDA Engages Gora Project Stakeholders, Visits Emir of Shani on Tour Day 3
The CBDA Management Team's third tour day, May 29, 2025, featured a visit to the Gora Minor project office for direct interaction with staff and farmers, followed by a courtesy call on the Emir of Shani to discuss agricultural support and modern farming methods.
Continuing their extensive engagement tour, the Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) Management Team dedicated Thursday, May 29, 2025, their third day, to crucial interactions in Borno State.
The day's activities were structured in two key parts:
- Gora Minor Project Office Visit:
The team visited the Gora Minor project office. During this visit, they:
• Engaged in direct interactions with both the project staff and local farmers.
• Discussed the working environment and availability of necessary materials for the staff.
• Actively listened to identify the pressing needs and challenges faced by the farmers in the area. - Courtesy Visit to the Emir of Shani:
Subsequently, the team paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Shani, Alh. Muhammad Nasir Mailafiya, at his palace. This visit provided a platform to:
• Pay traditional homage.
• Introduce the new CBDA management team to the Emir.
• Discuss modalities and strategies to support farmers in enhancing irrigated agriculture.
• Reinforce commitment to the President's Renewed Hope Agenda for achieving food security.
Key Discussion Points:
A notable point from the discussion with the Emir of Shani was his suggestion for the CBDA management team to consider and promote modern farming methods that utilize non-organic manure, citing the often prohibitive cost of organic manure for local farmers.
This visit highlights the CBDA Management Team's dedication to grassroots engagement with stakeholders, understanding the specific needs of farmers, and exploring innovative ways to improve agricultural productivity across its operational areas in Borno, Yobe, and Northern Adamawa States.
