The Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) on Thursday, October 23, 2025, received a delegation from the Mohamet Lawan College of Agriculture, Maiduguri, on a courtesy visit to its headquarters. The visit was led by the Provost of the College, Dr. Alhaji Abba Makinta, and hosted by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of CBDA, Alhaji Tijjani Musa Tumsah. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Board of Directors, members of the Executive Management, and other senior officials of the Authority.

Dr. Makinta’s delegation included the Registrar, Deputy Provost, College Librarian, and Director of Academic Planning. During the visit, the Provost congratulated the newly appointed CBDA management team on their assumption of office and commended their commitment to revitalizing the Authority. He expressed confidence in their capacity to rebrand CBDA and deliver effectively on its mandate of promoting agricultural development and water resource management in the region.

Discussions during the meeting centered on possible areas of collaboration between both institutions. These include knowledge sharing through learning exchange programs, capacity building and skills enhancement for CBDA staff, and joint efforts in irrigation and agricultural development to support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at achieving national food security.

The Provost also proposed deploying staff from the College to assist CBDA in providing on-farm extension services and training in modern farming techniques that are adaptive to climate change challenges.

In response, the CBDA Managing Director expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial partnership with the College. He noted that such collaborations are essential to strengthening agricultural productivity and sustainability in the Chad Basin region.

The visit concluded with both institutions pledging to continue engaging in dialogue and cooperation to advance shared goals in agricultural innovation, research, and regional development.
