CBDA Management Focuses on Hadejia-Nguru Wetlands, Visits Emir of Bade on Tour Day 2
On their second tour day, May 28, 2025, the CBDA Management Team assessed the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands project and paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bade, discussing partnerships for agricultural enhancement and food security under the President's Renewed Hope Agenda.
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the second day of their ongoing duty tour, the Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) Management Team focused their activities on key project areas and stakeholder engagement.
The day's itinerary included two main segments:
- Hadejia-Nguru Wetlands Project Visit:
The team visited the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands project. This vital ecological and agricultural area faces challenges, notably due to reduced rainfall patterns, a growing population, and the impact of upstream dam construction. The management assessed the situation and discussed potential interventions. - Courtesy Visit to the Emir of Bade:
Following the project visit, the team paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bade, Alh. Abubakar Umar Suleiman, at his palace. The objectives of this significant visit were to:
• Pay traditional homage to the Emir.
• Formally introduce the new CBDA management team.
• Discuss potential partnership opportunities aimed at enhancing irrigated agriculture within the Emirate.
• Align strategies to support the President's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly concerning food security.
After the productive engagement with the Emir of Bade, the team commenced their journey towards Gombe, transiting through Jakusko, Potiskum, and Nafada (Bajoga) local government areas. Gombe served as an overnight stop before the team proceeded to Shani Local Government Area of Borno State on the following day.
